You Control the Help You Get

Helpers should be coaches, not crutches. They should encourage you, give you hints as you need them, and sometimes show you how to do problems. They are intended to help you with clarification, syntax, and debugging questions; they should not, nor be expected to, actually do the work you need to do. They are there to help you figure out how to learn the skills yourself. You should not use them as your personal tutor, asking them to take you step-by-step through the lab.

Before you ask the lab helpers for help, be prepared to answer the following questions from our problem solving tips.

There are no lab helper on Tuesdays, the day the labs are due. We want to strongly encourage you to get your labs done as early as possible. If you need help outside of lab helper hours, you might find this link to be useful problem solving tips                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               We are still in need of 1 lab helper for SOC on Saturday 4-6 and 1 lab helper on Thursday 7-9, if interested contact Adam.Eck@oberlin.edu
