About Us
The Oberlin Bike Co-op is a cooperatively run bicycle repair, rental, and education center serving Oberlin, Ohio. The project began in 1986. Volunteer mechanics will teach you how to fix your bike instead of doing it for you. We keep a steady stock of new and used parts available for purchase at a low cost, and we place orders regularly for specialty parts and bike accessories.
Our Philosophy
We are here to promote bikes as sustainable, affordable, and fun modes of transportation by making them more accessible to the community.
We encourage self-reliance through learning new skills, instead of relying on so-called pros and experts.
We strive to facilitate peer-to-peer education in a supportive environment that is open to everyone.
We promote the reuse and recycling of working used bikes and parts in our effort to lessen environmental impact (and old bikes are cooler.)
