There are a number of other types of drives you may encounter when buying or upgrading a computer. You may encounter such things as Bernoulli tape drives, WORM (write once, read many) drives, optical floppies, and removable hard drives. All these things are really cool, but you may want to stick with the basics until you are a little more comfortable with the technology. Any computer system ought to have at least one 3.5 inch floppy drive, as large a hard drive as possible, and a CD-ROM drive.
